As Akar Textile, there are traces of sustainability in every step, big and small, from our R&D projects to our investments, from the selection of materials in production to energy use, from the protection of natural resources to the utilization of waste resources. Our awareness e-waste project on “Recycling of Electronic Wastes and the Environment”, initiated by our Sustainability department a year ago, brought its results. In our project, which we implemented in cooperation with the Association for Supporting the Recycling of Electronic Wastes and Izmir Environmental Recycling Center, electronic wastes, which are the most harmful to nature and human health, were recycled with the participation of Akar Textile employees to support education.

The first step of our 3-step project was training. First, we provide training on “environment and waste management” to our employees in our Izmir factory and created awareness.

In the second step, we, as Akar Textile employees, facultatively separated and preserved the electronic waste in our factory. Our employees were not satisfied with this, and they also increased their support for the project by bringing in unusable electronic devices in their homes, and we delivered over 800 kilograms of e-waste to Izmir Environmental Recycling Center.

In the third step, we decided to support education by crowning the project. We had planned to give books to the libraries of İzmir Konak Seyfi Gülmezoğlu Primary and Secondary School with the price to be paid for e-waste, but than İzmir Environment Recycling Center also said that they wanted to support our project and increased our support for our student brothers and sisters.

In this way, we have brought many books from Turkish and Eastern Classics to 100 Basic Works, from World Classics to 100 Basic Works of Primary Education and from Children Classics to Samed Behrengi Series to the libraries of Seyfi Gülmezoğlu Primary and Secondary School. On this occasion, we would like to thank  our employees for owning and supporting our project, and the Association for Supporting the Recycling of Electronic Wastes and Izmir Environmental Recycling Center.
