International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Today, February 11, is International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

This special day, announced by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015; It aims at full and equal participation in education by encouraging women and girls all over the world to higher education and therefore to science.

The 2022 theme of February 11, which is celebrated with a different theme every year, is “Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Water Unites Us”.

With the inclusion of Covid-19 in our lives, we have better understood the importance of water and hygiene. Although significant progress has been made in recent years in increasing access to clean drinking water and sanitation, billions of people still lack this basic need.

As Akar Textile; We are aware that the role of women in life is as valuable and essential as water. We know very well what women, who are the representatives of change, can achieve when given equal opportunities. In our R&D center, 80 percent of which is made up of women engineers and technicians, we look out for women’s employment, as we do in production and management.
