Say No to Violence Against Women
Today, November 25, is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
As Akar Textile, along with the laws; As a member of the United Nations Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Unit (UN WEPs), we are against all forms of physical, psychological and sexual violence against women.
With this; While we take care of our female employees in particular with the “Prevention of Discrimination Policy”, “Policy and Procedure for the Prevention of Harassment and Abuse” and our Women’s Board, we take it as our duty to raise awareness of all our employees, both men and women, through awareness-raising trainings.

“Eliminating Gender Equality in Companies” and “Zero Tolerance to Violence” training, which we started at our Kula factory last month and given to 650 employees, is one of our duties.
With the “Improving Gender Equality in Companies” and “Zero Tolerance to Violence” trainings initiated by the International Labor Organization (ILO), the specialized agency of the United Nations, we contribute to raising the awareness of all our employees about violence and harassment in the workplace and in daily life.
Our goal is; To offer these trainings to all our employees in our Mardin and Izmir factories in the first quarter of 2022.
We would like to announce a comprehensive procedure that we have adopted institutionally in the very near future; “Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Procedure”. It is a procedure that covers all our stakeholders, from employment to employee rights, from in-house training to working conditions, from supplier selection to non-governmental organization activities. In these procedures, we aim to create new success stories by mentoring our employees and solution partners in their work on women’s empowerment.
Today, we are participating in the #PainttheWorldOrange Movement, the theme of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, 2021 on 25 November!
At Akar Textile, where 60 percent of our employees are women, we have 60 percent female superiority in production and 70 percent in management, as we always repeat; At Akar Textile, women are always plus “1” more and always strong in production and management.
